X Pro RXE 250 unboxing and first impressions

@tachedoutllc Got my Xpro RXE 250 a few days ago. Lots of people have done unboxing and setup videos which I won’t bother with but I will be doing some reviews as I break it in and put miles on it this Summer. #bikelife #motorcycle #xpro #taotao #enduro #dirtbike ♬ PHONK BRASILEIRO FRESCO - DJ MOIGUS & DJ FKU

I was giving serious consideration to buying a Honda XR150L for trail riding. The price tag is just under $3000 but I was underwhelmed by the suspension, and the lack of power concerned me. When buying a new machine there will bee doc fees, freight fees and sales tax. If you're financing your bike like many people do, there is a UCC collateral filing fee, and sometimes an LSI fee charged by credit unions. The $2995 motorcycle quickly becomes a $4500 motorcycle. For almost 5 grand I can think of a lot of better things to spend my money on than an anemic trail bike. My mind wandered to the Honda CRF300L. $5500, but with sales tax and fees I was looking at around $7000. I have my big block Chevelle to build still, and my finally finished 240SX to paint. I decided 2k was my budget which means its going to be a used Japanese machine, or a new Chinese one. Seeing that every off road machine in Maine for sale on marketplace looked like dog shit, I decided on getting a new X Pro 250. It's Chinese but at least not beat on. Yet. I remembered hearing about the TaoTao 250 years ago when they first came out. The early ones were hit or miss. Many blew up within a season. I found a recent video by Sean Kerr at Bikes and Beards about the Hawk DLX which is pretty much the same bike as the X Pro. They share a Zonhshen 250CC motor which supposedly puts out 14 HP. I just happened to like the styling of the X Pro better. It's an almost exact copy of the XR150L right down to the plastics and luggage rack. The bike was $1250 and shipping was $400. I've since gotten the bike uncrated, set up, and put a few miles on it. It pulls surprsingly hard. Top speed seems like its going to fall in the 60 mph neighborhood. I haven't been pushing it as its not really broken in yet.
