In 2008 a friend pranked me by putting my car, a 74 Chevelle, up for sale on Craigslist complete with my phone number and a picture of the car from my MySpace. I was 2 years out of high school, very broke, and already had picked up a 240SX as a daily driver so I couldn't resist $1800 being waved in my face over the phone for a car I wasn't using. I instantly knew who had listed the car without my consent, but I didn't really care. The buyer came up from Cape Cod to get it. Instantly regretting my decision to sell my favorite car I began a calling campaign to this poor bastard every few months for the next 15 years until he finally caved in August of 2022.
It had been a lawn ornament. There is a chunk missing out of a rear quarter panel, and a couple sections of floor pan are Swiss cheese, but A-Body Chevys are like tanks. Thankfully this guy had the common sense to store the door cards indoors. The vinyl interior is mostly how I left it.While removing the bench seats for reconditioning I even found a hall pass from my senior year of high school in 2006 that had gotten jammed underneath.
I hope to do a mild frame off resto of the car to what I always wanted the car to look like. Factory Chevy medium red. Minimal chrome stripping, no more landau roof, a set of IROCs like I at one point had on the car and a detailing of the engine compartment. ( I had slapped on an aluminum Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and 650 CFM carb at some point. )
