In my last post I talked about my Chevelle build and sourcing a 454 from a motorhome. It went well. The motor is cleaned up and waiting for some valvetrain work and a cam.
What I did not plan for was the removal of a now immobilized motorhome. Scrap yards and the dump would not take it. Being a 33' long vehicle, a tow would require a big rig wrecker anyway, totaling around $1000 and negating much of my savings for this budget muscle car build. For the past 3 or 4 months I resolved to give it away on Marketplace marketing it as a good storage alternative to building a new shed. I was deluged with tire kickers. Really weird tire kickers. That is until one day a local garage owner showed up with a flatbed trailer to use as a dolly and finally get this thing out of my driveway.
I was skeptical of this plan and expressed that to them. They came prepared with ratcheting heavy duty chains, a winch and a type of confidence that only experience or perhaps intoxication could provide. They assured me they had pulled rigs like this before.
Long story short, something told me to record the exit just in case something were to go awry. Here it is.
@tachedoutllc I gave this motorhome away after taking the big block chevy motor out. The people who came for it dollied it right into a ditch. #comedy #cars #mechanic #fyp #explore #motorhome ♬ original sound - Tached Out
